Senior Management

  • Bob Dieringer, Sr.
    • Bob Dieringer, Sr.

    • Founder and Chairman
    • Bob founded The DRG in 1974 and as Chairman, he provides support and consultation to the President/CEO and Senior Management Team. With 40 years of leadership at The DRG and over 50 years of marketing research experience, Bob continues to be a source of advice and influence to all DRG employees. He is involved in strategic planning for the company, and he also regularly provides input to The DRG’s Business Development team.

Bob was first attracted to marketing research while in graduate school, and over the years, he has enjoyed the analytical and creative challenges involved with the profession. He has never been disappointed in his career choice, and Bob continues to find marketing research to be innovative and exciting. Bob has always enjoyed building relationships with clients and partnering with them on their diverse information needs. However, his most rewarding and memorable moments at The DRG have involved mentoring employees and watching them grow in both their careers and personal lives as they become more confident, take on additional responsibilities, and achieve new successes.

In 2004, Bob stepped aside to transition management of the company to the second generation of Dieringers, Lanie Johnson and Robert Dieringer, Jr. While he still is involved at The DRG, he appreciates his additional time with family and friends. He volunteers at his church and also enjoys traveling, boating, music, and golfing. Bob also loves spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sports, drama, and music events.

Bob is proud of his company’s success in The DRG’s 40 years in business, and he feels blessed to have spent so many years working in a profession he enjoys. He looks forward to continuing to work with The DRG’s talented team of managers and employees.

  • Lanie Johnson
    • Lanie Johnson

    • President / Chief Executive Officer
    • Lanie is responsible for the overall company strategic direction and leadership. She collaborates with The DRG’s account and project teams to provide consultation to clients regarding study design, insights, advanced analytics/statistical procedures, goal-setting, and launching of insights.

Lanie majored in Computer Science and Statistics and graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She also has always enjoyed working with people, so her career in marketing research has been ideal for her; Lanie can apply her math and science background and also has the opportunity to consult with clients and DRG employees on a daily basis.

In 1995, after working as a systems consultant at an international employee benefits consulting firm, Lanie joined her father, Bob Dieringer, at The DRG, and she has played an integral role in the growth of the company. Lanie loves helping The DRG’s clients incorporate the Voice of the Customer into their business decisions, and she also enjoys working with the passionate, hard-working team of employees of The DRG. While there are always challenges in such a dynamic, competitive industry, Lanie collaborates with The DRG’s leadership team to find solutions and is excited for what the future holds for the company.

Most of Lanie’s time outside of work is spent with her husband and two sons. Her boys are very active in baseball and basketball, so many evenings and weekends are spent cheering them on at games. Lanie also enjoys biking, spending time at the beach near her Florida home, and working on home remodeling/decorating projects.

  • Shelley Ahrens
    • Shelley Ahrens

    • Vice President, Research Services
    • Shelley is responsible for overseeing the Account Management, Client Services, Advanced Analytics, Information Services, and Data Services teams at The DRG. She also provides company leadership and helps execute The DRG’s strategic vision and key directives. Shelley has been with The DRG since 2000.

Shelley knew she wanted to work in marketing research while still in college, as it’s the perfect blend of creativity and science. The most rewarding aspect of her role at The DRG is helping clients solve business problems and challenges. She considers herself to be solution-oriented and a problem solver, and Shelley enjoys applying these characteristics in her career. She also enjoys the variety, as no day at The DRG is the same. On a daily basis, DRG employees challenge each other to produce the best research and insights for their clients, while having fun in the process.

Outside of The DRG, Shelley likes spending time with her two dogs, who never fail to entertain her and make her smile, as well as spoiling her nieces and nephews. Her hobbies include photography and gardening.

  • Ron Rawski
    • Ron Rawski

    • Vice President, Technology and Administrative Services
    • Ron is responsible for leading the Technical, Facility, Procurement, Compliance and Production Centers (Call Center, Focus Center and Mail Center) behind The DRG’s full-service firm. His days are filled with supporting the company mission and vision by guiding The DRG’s team of employees through goals and challenges.

While others at The DRG were interested in marketing research early on, Ron kind of stumbled upon the industry in 1991. After changing his major in college multiple times, he was looking for some extra income and found a part-time job working as a telephone interviewer. Today, he’s a little surprised he’s still working in the industry, but he truly enjoys his role at The DRG, leveraging his experience and creativity to help employees make decisions and solve challenges.

Ron started working at The DRG in 2001. What Ron really likes about the company is that the possibilities and opportunities for its employees are endless. Each employee, with guidance from The DRG’s management team, is in control of their growth and satisfaction. The DRG’s employees work together to tailor each study to the client’s needs and produce quality results; and while this work can be challenging, The DRG’s employees also have fun together. Ron enjoys this collaborative culture, and it’s this team-oriented environment that “drives him to work” each morning.

When not working, Ron enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. While work and family keep Ron busy, his other hobbies include music collecting, entertaining, and competitive lawn sculpting.
